Position Open: Director, National Center for Geriatrics and Welfare Research, National Health Research Institutes, Taiwan

The National Health Research Institutes (NHRI) invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the National Center for Geriatrics and Welfare Research (NCGWR).  Established in 2020 and located in Yunlin County, the NCGWR serves as a national platform dedicated to advancing research and policy innovation to address Taiwan's rapidly aging population.

As Taiwan enters a super-aged era, the NCGWR acts as a government think tank in long-term care planning, geriatric health promotion, and senior welfare reform.  Its mission is to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and translate research into policy and practice.  We seek an innovative and forward-looking Director with a global perspective and a comprehensive understanding of major issues in aging research and policy.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  1. Outstanding interdisciplinary research achievements in aging-related fields.
  2. Strong organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  3. Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and implement effective strategic plans for geriatric research.
  4. Ph.D./M.D. degree, or equivalent academic degree.
  5. Proficiency in Chinese, familiarity with Taiwan's research environment, and experience in international collaboration are preferred.

The Director will oversee intramural programs, facilitate intra- and extramural collaborations, and guide the conception, planning, and supervision of research and development initiatives.  The role also involves close collaboration with other NHRI institutes, government agencies, universities, and industry partners to advance national health and welfare goals for a super-aged society.
