1. Gianni Liti (https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=DKDEoMcAAAAJ )
Dr. Gianni Liti is a senior CNRS researcher at the Institute for Research on Cancer and Ageing of Nice (IRCAN) in France. He studied biology and received a Ph.D. in 2000 from the University of Perugia (Italy) with Prof. Alessandro Martini and postdoctoral training at University of Leicester and University of Nottingham with Prof. Edward Louis. He joined the Institute for Research on Cancer and Ageing of Nice (France) in 2011 as CNRS researcher and established the research group “Population genomics and complex traits”. Gianni Liti’s lab uses genetics and genomics to understand the evolutionary processes that shape natural variation at the population level. He serves as editor in chief of the journal Yeast (Wiley) since 2016. He received the DuPont Young Professor Award (2015), the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei “Giovanna Jucci” prize for genetics (2021), Mortimer’s medal (2023) and the joined Franco-Taiwanese award with Jason Tsai. He was elected to the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) member in 2021.
2. Michael McDonald (https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=5JLRdvAAAAAJ )
Mike McDonald is a Professor in the School of Biological Sciences at Monash University whose research explores how microbes evolve and adapt. Originally from New Zealand, he trained at Massey and Auckland Universities and later held postdoctoral positions at Academia Sinica in Taiwan and Harvard University. His work uses experimental evolution, whole-genome sequencing, and molecular genetics to directly observe evolution in action. By studying how microbial communities respond to climate change, antibiotics, and phage therapy, Mike aims to better predict evolutionary change and develop new ways to manage microbiomes and combat antibiotic resistance (www.mcdonald-lab.com ).
